Consider Flooret vinyl flooring for your tiny home if you need a durable, scratch-resistant, easy-care, waterproof, hardwood look at a reasonable price.

What is Flooret Vinyl Flooring?

Natural hardwood or tile floors look and feel gorgeous, but can be expensive to install and maintain. Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring was created to mimic the look of hardwood. Flooret vinyl flooring brings direct-to-consumer pricing to this on-trend look.

LVP flooring includes more layers of material than standard vinyl flooring. There’s an attached underlayer, a core structure, a vinyl top, and a wear layer. This wear layer, and the thickness of it, drives its durability.

Flooret’s premium line has one of the thickest wear layers in the business.

Is Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring Good for Tiny Houses?

Unlike a larger house, where you might choose carpet for bedrooms, tile for bathrooms, hardwood for a formal living room, and vinyl for your basement, you need every inch of your tiny home to be equally functional.

For tiny house interior designs, luxury vinyl plank flooring could be the all around answer, especially if you install a moisture barrier under it near the toilet or shower.

Why Would I Install a Luxury Product in my Tiny home?

Since your tiny home contains less flooring than a larger space, you’ll be walking on every square foot of it more times daily. So make sure you – and any dogs, friends, or family members – put that foot traffic on a durable, high quality product.

Having a small footprint translates into fewer square feet of any material you use in your home. Comparing materials costs for flooring, you can see that the cost of LVP varies more widely than lesser products, but depending on the price point you choose, may fit into your budget.

Type of Vinyl Flooring Cost per Square Foot
Vinyl sheet flooring $1-$2
Standard vinyl plank flooring $2-$7
Luxury vinyl plank flooring $3-$10

bout the Signature line?

You can order a Light, Dark, or Gray Signature sample kit, or the Bestseller Signature kit for Modin LVP. Each kit contains six colors and gives you a concrete way to test drive it. The light version includes Lachlan, Lato, Soho, Palka, Yuzen, and Nakan color concepts.

The samples will be shipped to you, so you don’t have to find, or drive to, a flooring store. If you’ve chosen a color, you can also order single, 12” cut planks, or full-length ones in any color.

The virtualization tool on Flooret’s website lets you test drive the colors before ordering any samples.

Flooret Vs. COREtec

In comparing Flooret to market leader COREtec, both vinyl flooring companies offer a type of lifetime warranty for residential use. Because COREtec sells through retailers, you will no doubt find differing collections depending on where you shop. While its overall thickness measures the same or more than Flooret, depending on which LVP you choose, COREtec does not appear to offer any with a wear layer more than 20 ml, whereas Flooret’s Signature line’s wear layer measures 40 ml.

COREtec flooring uses cork backing, considered more eco-friendly and superior in both sound- and mildew-blocking compared with foam.

The real champion in this comparison might be your wallet. Though retailers may price it differently or offer sales, when comparing website prices, COREtec will cost you at least 75-150% more than Flooret.
